Financial Accountant – Oxford

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join a fast‑growing organisation in Oxford. This newly qualified position will play a key part in delivering accurate financial reporting and supporting the finance team during an exciting period of expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and annual financial reports.
• Manage month‑end close, including journals, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Complete balance‑sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Prepare VAT returns and support statutory accounts and year‑end audit.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow reporting.
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with UK accounting standards.
• Support process improvements and finance systems enhancements.
• Partner with stakeholders to provide financial analysis and insight.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
• Previous financial accounting experience, ideally within industry or practice.
• Strong understanding of UK GAAP (FRS 102), statutory reporting and VAT.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented and committed to continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
