Financial Controller – B2B Marketplace

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing B2B marketplace in London, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to own and develop the finance function. Reporting directly to the founder, you will support rapid organic and inorganic growth, including fundraising and scaling of processes.

Key responsibilities

• Own financial operations and reporting/accounting for internal stakeholders, investors and regulators.
• Partner with business units to provide financial insight.
• Develop and improve commercial models.
• Lead the audit process with external accountants.
• Build and manage a finance team over time.
• Research and propose new tools, approaches and best practices.
• Update processes and models as the business scales.
• Manage bank accounts and payment processes across jurisdictions.
• Oversee VAT returns and coordinate outsourced tax returns.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACCA or ACA) with strong Excel, PowerPoint or Google Suite skills.
• Proven experience in a finance leadership role.
• Detail‑oriented with a strong problem‑solving mindset.
• Ability to leverage AI for automation.
• Experience in a fast‑paced start‑up or scale‑up environment (beneficial).
• Background in omnichannel retail (beneficial).
• Experience in a multi‑currency environment (preferred).

What we offer
