Financial Controller – Chester

About the role

Accountable Recruitment are delighted to be partnering exclusively on a retained basis with a fast‑growing, private‑equity backed business based in Chester. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the business, learning from a strong CFO and gaining exposure to international growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical accounting and month‑end processes, providing information for investors.
• Manage a small accounts team, including an assistant management accountant, supporting their development.
• Review and enhance existing financial controls and processes, creating a roadmap for continual improvement.
• Ensure timely and accurate payments and cash collection through strong transactional finance management.
• Produce monthly management accounts and build the board pack and month‑end reporting.
• Take ownership of revenue recognition, improving and automating reporting.
• Develop robust financial models in Excel to support strategic decision‑making and planning.
• Manage cash‑flow forecasting and continuously improve the cash‑flow model.
• Maintain relationships with banks, auditors and tax advisors, leading the annual audit process.
• Provide FP&A, business partnering and commercial financial management.

Required profile

• CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified.
• Proven experience in a fast‑paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to drive efficiencies and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Strong communication skills and ability to challenge the status‑quo.
• Analytical, detail‑oriented approach to reporting and management information.

• Advanced Excel for financial modelling.
• Financial modelling techniques.
