Financial Controller

About the role

This role is for a Chartered Accountant who is passionate about technology, finance and sports, joining an AI‑powered multi‑sport coaching platform. You will be the first dedicated finance professional, reporting directly to the founder and shaping the financial infrastructure across UK and Indian entities.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain the full financial infrastructure, including chart of accounts, close process and reporting cadence.
• Manage UK VAT/MTD and Indian GST compliance, payroll and cost tracking for both locations.
• Own weekly cash‑flow modelling and investor‑facing reporting, supporting fundraising and board‑ready management accounts.
• Lead ERP/accounting system implementation (NetSuite OneWorld or equivalent) and drive automation of financial workflows.
• Maintain financial models, data‑room materials and cross‑border transfer documentation for the Indian subsidiary.

Required profile

• ACA qualified (ICAEW) with strong financial modelling and forecasting abilities.
• Proven experience building finance systems, tools and automations in a startup environment.
• Comfortable operating across UK and Indian regulatory frameworks, including VAT, GST and RBI/FIRMS filings.
• Excellent communication skills to translate numbers into narratives for investors and the board.
• Experience with VC‑backed companies is highly desirable.

What we offer

• Salary £65,000 – £80,000 per year (negotiable).
• Equity 0.25% – 0.5% EMI options, total compensation potential over £200,000.
