Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the UK finance function for an established international manufacturing organisation based in Warrington. Reporting to the UK Managing Director and Group Finance, you will own day‑to‑day finance operations and influence business performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a small finance team of two, overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, controls, working capital and payroll.
• Produce accurate monthly financial information for Group Finance, including variance analysis against budget.
• Support Group planning by preparing budgets and monitoring costs and performance.
• Maintain and strengthen financial controls across sales, purchasing, stock, cash, banking and insurance.
• Oversee debtors, creditors, banking and cash processes, ensuring effective controls.
• Monitor customer rebate levels and ensure correct accruals.
• Coordinate monthly payroll and statutory filings (VAT, Corporation Tax, etc.).
• Manage the external audit process and year‑end close.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Finance Manager.
• Ability to lead a small finance team and work closely with senior management.
• Strong relationship‑building skills across sales, customer service, purchasing, stock control and warehouse functions.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate, timely financial information and analysis.
