Financial Controller

About the role

You will play a key role in overseeing financial operations and ensuring smooth accounting processes. This hands‑on role involves ownership of day‑to‑day financial control, reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management for a fast‑growing SME.

Key responsibilities

• Own the monthly management accounts, reporting pack and detailed variance analysis.
• Provide clear financial insight and commentary to senior management, highlighting risks and opportunities.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow projections and scenario modelling.
• Maintain strong financial controls, ensuring accuracy and integrity across the ledger.
• Oversee VAT, statutory reporting, year‑end accounts and audit requirements.
• Monitor working capital, debtor performance and cash collection.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting and system efficiency.
• Work closely with operational and commercial teams to improve financial visibility and decision‑making.
• Drive automation, data accuracy and continuous improvement across the finance function.
• Support the wider finance team and contribute to the development of a robust, scalable finance operation.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.
• Proven experience in running a finance function in an SME.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with stakeholders effectively.
• Proficiency in financial software and tools.

What we offer

• Salary £60,000 - £75,000 per year plus bonus.
• Hybrid working arrangement.
