Financial Controller (Leeds)

About the role

Sharp Consultancy is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join a well‑established family business in North Leeds. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will own day‑to‑day financial management, ensuring accurate reporting and robust controls.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and associated financial reports.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management processes.
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Manage the year‑end audit, liaising with external auditors and advisers.
• Oversee payroll, VAT, tax and other statutory reporting obligations.
• Mentor and develop the finance team to achieve high performance.
• Provide financial analysis to support commercial decision‑making.
• Collaborate with senior management to deliver financial insight for strategic initiatives.
• Identify and implement process improvements across finance systems and procedures.

Required profile

• CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualification.
• Proven experience at Financial Controller level in a commercial environment.
• Strong technical accounting expertise.
• Ability to lead and develop a finance function.
• Experience in IT, engineering or manufacturing is advantageous.
