Financial Controller (Property Sector)

About the role

Our client, a successful and growing property business based in Blackburn, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its senior finance team. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this role offers a commercially‑minded finance professional the chance to own day‑to‑day finance operations while supporting strategic business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and board reporting packs.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management activities.
• Oversee the day‑to‑day finance function, including purchase and sales ledger, payroll and reconciliations.
• Ensure timely and accurate month‑end and year‑end reporting.
• Manage VAT returns, statutory compliance and audit requirements.
• Produce financial analysis and KPIs to support decision‑making.
• Develop and improve financial processes and internal controls.
• Support the Finance Director with strategic projects and business growth initiatives.
• Manage, mentor and develop members of the finance team.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance position.
• Previous property sector experience is highly desirable.
• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or qualified by experience.
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise.
• Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
