Financial Controller – Senior Finance Lead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function of a successful family‑owned multi‑site group in Surrey. Reporting directly to the owners and directors, you will have full autonomy to shape financial strategy and provide commercial insight.

Key responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of group financial reporting.
• Prepare and oversee monthly management accounts and statutory accounts.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow planning processes.
• Review performance against budget, identify variances and provide commentary to directors.
• Monitor profitability and identify opportunities to improve financial performance.
• Strengthen financial processes, policies and controls.
• Manage and develop the finance team, ensuring workloads and deadlines are met.
• Coordinate the annual audit and liaise with external advisers, banks and HMRC.
• Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory and payroll requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience at Financial Controller, Head of Finance or equivalent senior finance role.
• Strong background in management accounts, statutory reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Excellent cash‑flow management and financial control skills.
• Ability to interpret financial information and communicate it clearly to owners and senior management.
• Experience managing or supervising a finance team.
• Sound understanding of taxation, audit and financial compliance.
• Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, ICAS, CIMA, SAICA or equivalent.
• Full right to work in the UK.
