Financial Management Information Officer

About the role

We are looking for a Financial Management Information Officer to support the accurate preparation and maintenance of departmental budgets in Bolton. The role involves monitoring revenue budgets, providing advice to budget holders, and delivering financial training.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the accurate preparation and maintenance of the Department’s budgets.
• Undertake regular, timely monitoring of specific service areas of the Revenue Budget.
• Provide advice and liaison with budget holders to optimise use of financial resources.
• Develop, maintain, and supply financial information such as unit costs and budget monitoring data.
• Assist in preparing final accounts and the Revenue Budget for designated areas.
• Deliver formal and informal financial training to staff.
• Maintain effective communication with the budget unit and relevant department staff.
• Contribute to the development of computer‑based resource systems relevant to the role.

Required profile

• Ability to produce, evaluate, and interpret financial management information regularly.
• Strong time‑management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive problem‑solving approach to financial management issues.
• Full or part‑qualified AAT/IIA or equivalent.
• Experience creating and maintaining spreadsheets for financial analysis.
• Experience preparing financial management information.

Required skills

• AAT (or equivalent) qualification
• IIA (or equivalent) qualification
• Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills
