Fire Engineer

About the role

Arup is seeking Fire Engineers to join its UK team and contribute to a diverse portfolio of high‑impact projects, ranging from heritage restorations to innovative timber constructions. You will work within a collaborative, hybrid environment, supporting the delivery of fire safety engineering services across multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Apply fire science principles to real‑world projects, developing fire scenarios and safety objectives.
• Interpret and apply relevant legislation, codes, and design guidance.
• Develop and implement fire strategies in partnership with design teams and stakeholders.
• Support the total fire safety concept from client brief through design, construction, and handover.
• Contribute to Arup’s research, digital tools, and knowledge‑sharing initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualification in a relevant engineering or fire safety discipline.
• Motivation to achieve Chartered Engineer status (support provided if needed).
• Strong analytical mindset with an ability to anticipate fire safety issues at different project stages.
