Fire & Security Engineer – Regional Role (South East England)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Fire & Security Engineer to provide regional support across the South East, based primarily in Stevenage. The role involves maintaining, repairing and fault‑finding a wide range of fire alarm and electronic security systems for commercial, education and infrastructure sites.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on fire alarm and security systems.
• Service, repair and fault‑find IP and analogue CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and door entry equipment.
• Test, maintain and repair fire alarm panels and associated circuitry.
• Perform small works, system alterations, upgrades and minor installation projects.
• Liaise with customers, facilities teams and site contacts regarding faults and recommended works.
• Produce accurate service reports, job sheets, risk assessments and technical documentation.
• Manage van stock, tools, test equipment and replacement parts.
• Support work on gates, barriers, disabled‑refuge and nurse‑call systems as required.
• Participate in an out‑of‑hours call‑out rota (approximately one week in twelve).

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Fire & Security Engineer, Security Systems Engineer or Multi‑Skilled Engineer.
• Strong practical knowledge of CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and door entry systems.
• Hands‑on experience with IP‑based CCTV and networking.
• Proven ability to service, fault‑find and repair fire alarm systems.
• Familiarity with manufacturers such as Hikvision, Dahua, Galaxy, Texecom, Paxton, PAC, Videx, Gent, Advanced, Notifier, Morley and C‑tec.
