Floating Support Worker – Housing & Community Services

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Floating Support Worker to join a well‑established charity that assists people experiencing homelessness, social exclusion and complex personal challenges across the South West of England. You will provide flexible, person‑centred support across a range of supported housing and community outreach services, helping individuals build independence and improve wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver practical and emotional assistance to adults with complex needs, using trauma‑informed and strengths‑based approaches.
• Maintain accurate client records, support plans and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed.
• Provide advice, sign‑posting and referrals to health, housing and community resources.
• Collaborate with housing providers, healthcare professionals and partner agencies to coordinate care.
• Travel between sites across Bristol, Bath, Somerset and surrounding areas to cover service gaps.
• Adapt quickly to changing priorities and work flexibly to meet demand.

Required profile

• Compassionate and adaptable with experience supporting vulnerable adults in housing, homelessness, mental health or substance misuse contexts.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Excellent organisational skills and the capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with appropriate insurance.

• Permanent contract with a salary of £28,655 per year.
• 37.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday (flexible start/end times) or four‑day week option.
