Flood Modeller with Drainage Experience

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Flood Modeller with Drainage expertise to join our civil engineering team. Based in Hemel Hempstead (with options for Didcot, Bristol or Cambridge), you will work on a varied portfolio of flood risk, drainage and water engineering projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and hydraulic modelling studies.
• Develop and review hydraulic models using TUFLOW, Flood Modeller, HEC‑RAS and InfoWorks ICM.
• Interpret hydrological data and produce high‑quality technical reports.
• Prepare sustainable drainage strategies and drainage modelling assessments.
• Manage projects to programme, budget and quality standards.
• Liaise with clients, local authorities, the Environment Agency and other stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance and mentor junior engineers.
• Support business development and build long‑term client relationships.

Required profile

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology or a related discipline.
• Consultancy experience in flood modelling, flood risk and drainage engineering.
• Experience preparing Flood Risk Assessments.
• Strong working knowledge of TUFLOW and Flood Modeller, with experience using InfoWorks ICM.
• Good understanding of UK flood risk policy, planning guidance and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS).
• Excellent analytical, report writing and communication skills.
• Experience managing projects and building client relationships.
• Membership of ICE or CIWEM, with Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Chartered Water and Environmental Manager (C.WEM) status, or working towards chartership (desirable).
