Floor Layer

About the role

Mears Group is seeking an experienced Floor Layer to join its Dover team, working in partnership with Dover Council. You will install and repair a variety of flooring types across social housing, void properties and occupied homes, delivering high‑quality, safe workmanship for the local community.

Key responsibilities

• Install and renew sheet vinyl flooring with smooth, bubble‑free finishes and sealed seams.
• Lay ceramic and other tiles, including cutting, alignment, grouting and sealing.
• Fit cap and cove wet‑room floors, creating seamless waterproof surfaces.
• Prepare subfloors by cleaning, repairing and priming for optimal adhesion.
• Apply self‑levelling compounds and screed to create even bases.
• Carry out flooring works in kitchens, bathrooms, communal areas and void properties.
• Measure and cut flooring materials accurately around fixtures and obstacles.
• Use hand and power tools safely, maintain equipment and company vehicle.
• Log progress via PDA system and communicate professionally with tenants, clients and colleagues.
• Ensure compliance with health‑and‑safety regulations and company procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Floor Layer in domestic or commercial settings.
• Experience with repairs and void works.
• Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
