FMCG Buyer – Meat & Protein Procurement

About the role

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced FMCG Buyer to join a fast‑paced, growing organisation in the food supply and wholesale sector. Based in Dorset, the role offers a hybrid working model and full ownership of sourcing and supplier relationship management for meat and protein products.

Key responsibilities

• Sourcing and purchasing meat and protein products to meet business requirements, quality standards and margin targets.
• Negotiating pricing, contracts and supply agreements with domestic and international suppliers.
• Building and maintaining long‑term relationships with key suppliers across the supply chain.
• Monitoring market trends, price fluctuations and competitor activity to identify trading opportunities.
• Driving cost efficiencies and identifying new sourcing opportunities to improve margin performance.
• Collaborating with sales, operations and logistics teams to align supply and demand planning.
• Managing stock levels to balance availability, cost control and waste reduction.
• Ensuring compliance with quality assurance, food safety and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in meat buying, protein procurement or a similar role within wholesale, retail or FMCG environments.
• Strong commercial awareness with a focus on margin‑driven trading.
• Experience managing volume procurement and international supply chains.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and secure commercially advantageous deals.
• Deep understanding of meat cuts, specifications, yields and pricing structures.
