Food Product Developer

About the role

Join the New Product Development team at Compleat Food Group in Middlesbrough as a Food Product Developer. You will create and adapt food products to meet customer and brand briefs, ensuring commercial viability and successful scale‑up.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new and adapted food products on time and within budget.
• Generate ideas, support new projects and participate in innovation sessions.
• Act as first point of contact for customers, building proactive relationships.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure feasibility and alignment with strategy.
• Lead product presentations and create accurate NPD documentation.
• Conduct benchmarking and present findings internally and externally.
• Solve issues related to scalability, sustainability and quality standards.
• Travel to manufacturing sites and customer locations as required.

Required profile

• Experience in supermarket own‑label or food product development.
• Food‑related degree (desirable) or equivalent experience.
• Strong customer‑facing experience in retail or FMCG environment.
• Passion for food and awareness of market and food trends.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.

What we offer

• Competitive salary £32,000‑£40,000 per annum, DOE.
• Full‑time role with Monday‑Thursday 8:30‑17:00, Friday 8:00‑16:00.
• Based in Middlesbrough with occasional travel to UK sites and customers.
