Forklift Driver & Warehouse Labourer (Chelmsford)

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Forklift Driver and Warehouse Labourer to join a fast‑paced manufacturing environment on the outskirts of Chelmsford. The role involves moving raw materials, ingredients and finished goods safely and efficiently across the site, supporting production and logistics teams.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a counter‑balance forklift safely on 12‑hour rotating shifts.
• Transport Lucerne, straw, grass bales and other components to and from production areas.
• Collect, store and record movement of bales and finished goods.
• Maintain accurate stock control, distribution and movement records using computer systems, scanners and printers.
• Conduct verbal handovers with incoming and outgoing operators at each shift change.
• Uphold high housekeeping standards and comply with Health & Safety procedures.
• Support wider logistics and production activities as required, including weekends and bank holidays during peak seasons.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months experience operating a counter‑balance forklift (valid licence required).
• Previous experience in a production, manufacturing or logistics setting.
• Strong awareness of Health & Safety practices.
• Good organisational attention to detail and clear communication skills.
• Own transport to travel to the site.

Required skills

• Counter‑balance forklift operation.
• Telehandler operation (training provided if needed).
• Shunter operation.
• Basic computer literacy, including use of scanners and printers.
