Forklift & Yard Operative – Stock Management

About the role

We are seeking a proactive and reliable Forklift and Yard Operative to support our client’s yard and store operations. The role involves managing stock, assisting customers, and maintaining a safe environment in a fast‑paced, physically active setting.

Key responsibilities

• Replenish and organise stock in the yard and store areas.
• Assist customers with loading, product advice and paint mixing (training provided).
• Maintain a clean, safe and hazard‑free environment.
• Perform regular equipment checks and report any issues.
• Follow all health and safety procedures.
• Work closely with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Handle manual tasks and general maintenance as required.

Required profile

• Valid counterbalance forklift licence.
• Team player who can also work independently and take initiative.
• Comfortable in a dynamic, fast‑paced and physically demanding environment.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Good understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Previous experience in a builders merchant is essential.

• Counterbalance forklift operation (licence).

What we offer

• Competitive salary £30,000‑£34,000 per year.
• Full‑time hours: Monday‑Friday 6 am‑4 pm or 7 am‑5 pm, alternate Saturdays 6:30 am‑3:30 pm.
