Formulation Chemist – Liquid & Emulsion Development

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a chemist with several years of industry experience to join a specialist manufacturer of liquid and emulsion products. You will work hands‑on within the technical department, designing, developing and optimising formulations from early‑stage laboratory work through to scale‑up and production support.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise liquid, gel and emulsion formulations to meet performance, quality and cost targets.
• Conduct laboratory testing to evaluate rheology, stability, viscosity, pH and particle‑size compatibility with packaging.
• Support scale‑up activities, pilot trials and full‑production manufacturing, including filling trials.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and produce technical documentation and reports.
• Troubleshoot formulation, processing or production issues as they arise.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality and regulatory teams to ensure successful product launches.
• Monitor raw‑material innovations, delivery‑system advances, scientific literature and regulatory changes.

Required profile

• Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• Industry experience in formulation or product development, preferably in personal care, household or related sectors.
• Hands‑on laboratory testing experience with analytical techniques such as viscosity, pH, stability and particle‑size analysis.
• Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment, including FTIR.
• Strong problem‑solving, data‑analysis and organisational abilities.
