Forward Deploy Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Forward Deploy Engineer to join the Digital & Cyber Capability team within DSIT. The role focuses on delivering AI‑powered, production‑grade software that supports the Civil Service’s digital transformation agenda. You will work on greenfield projects, turning concepts into scalable solutions that integrate large language models.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy end‑to‑end software solutions using modern engineering practices.
• Develop AI‑enabled applications and integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) into production.
• Work across the full software lifecycle from discovery and prototyping to deployment and iteration.
• Build frontend and backend components, APIs, databases and data pipelines.
• Integrate AI models into existing government products and services.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate user needs into technical solutions.
• Support testing, documentation, deployment and continuous improvement of applications.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering experience across the full technology stack.
• Proven experience designing and delivering applied AI or LLM‑based solutions.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
