Foundation SEND Lecturer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Foundation SEND Lecturer to deliver high‑quality teaching to learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a Further Education setting. The role focuses on creating an inclusive environment where learners can develop confidence, independence and the skills needed for future success.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for Foundation and Supported Learning programmes.
• Integrate Functional Skills English and Maths into the curriculum.
• Support learners in achieving individual learning goals and EHCP outcomes.
• Monitor, assess and provide timely feedback on learner progress.
• Maintain a safe, supportive classroom that promotes engagement and achievement.
• Collaborate with Learning Support Assistants, curriculum teams, parents/carers and external agencies.
• Promote learner independence, personal development and employability skills.
• Keep accurate learner records and contribute to quality assurance processes.

Required profile

• Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent).
• Proven experience teaching learners with SEND.
• Experience delivering Functional Skills English and Maths.
• Strong classroom management and learner engagement abilities.
• Knowledge of inclusive teaching practices and differentiated learning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and learner welfare.
