Founding Product Owner – Tax Technology Startup

About the role

We are partnering with an ambitious tax‑technology start‑up that is turning dense legislation into executable rules for automated decision‑making. As the first dedicated product hire, you will work hand‑in‑glove with the founders and a founding product designer to shape a disruptive B2B platform from its earliest stages.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end product lifecycle, defining and prioritising the roadmap to keep engineering focus.
• Conduct deep user research with accounting clients, turning observations into clear product insights.
• Translate complex legal and compliance requirements into unambiguous user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate closely with the founding product designer to align functionality with intuitive user experience.
• Partner with domain experts to map high‑stakes tax rules into deterministic product workflows.

Required profile

• Proven primary product decision‑maker at an early‑stage startup (ideally employee #1‑20).
• Experience handling highly complex, data‑heavy systems such as Fintech, Regtech, Compliance, Legaltech or advanced ERP workflows.
• Data‑driven mindset that prioritises core user value over feature churn.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment with minimal bureaucracy.
