Founding Python Engineer (London, Shoreditch)

About the role

We are looking for a founding Python Engineer to join an early‑stage AI startup in London’s Shoreditch district. As one of the first engineering hires you will build autonomous AI systems from the ground up, working directly with the founders to ship features quickly and shape the technical direction.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services and APIs in Python to power AI agents that automate complex workflows such as property management and sales processes.
• Build autonomous AI agents that integrate with CRMs, email, WhatsApp and other communication tools.
• Develop production‑ready AI features using modern large language models, focusing on reliability and real‑customer impact.
• Deploy cloud‑native applications on AWS or GCP and ensure robust orchestration.
• Collaborate closely with founders on product strategy, technical architecture and rapid feature delivery.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience building backend applications in Python, preferably with FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Proven ability to design scalable APIs and distributed systems.
• Hands‑on experience with large language models or AI‑agent workflows, either through commercial projects or notable personal work.
• Comfortable working across the stack and able to contribute to front‑end code (TypeScript, React/Next.js) when needed.
• Experience deploying and operating cloud‑native services on AWS or GCP.
• Product‑focused mindset with a bias for ownership and fast execution in a startup environment.
