Foundry Operative – Rotating Shifts, Temp-to-Perm

About the role

Acorn by Synergie is seeking a Foundry Operative to join a leading manufacturing business in South Molton. The role is full‑time on a rotating shift pattern and offers a temporary‑to‑permanent pathway with immediate start dates.

Key responsibilities

• Remove shell material from moulds after casting operations.
• Prepare and finish moulds using water‑blasting techniques.
• Operate manual and semi‑automatic band saws to trim and rework castings.
• Dry‑blast components to achieve a consistent surface finish.
• Handle hot moulds safely and support ongoing casting processes.
• Pack, label and ready products for further processing.
• Carry out quality inspections, identify defects and record findings.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production targets.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a foundry, manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to follow work instructions and production procedures accurately.
• Confidence interpreting routing cards and production documentation.
• Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to identify defects.
• Positive attitude and effective teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Band saw operation (manual and semi‑automatic).
• Water‑blasting and dry‑blasting techniques.
• Hot mould handling.
• Quality inspection and defect identification.
