Freelance Graphic Designer – Publishing & Long‑Form Typesetting

About the role

We are seeking a freelance Graphic Designer to join a leading research and policy organisation on a 3‑4 month PAYE contract. Based in London with a hybrid work model, you will shape high‑profile reports, publications and digital assets, turning complex research and data into polished, visually engaging outputs.

Key responsibilities

• Design and typeset long‑form editorial documents, including reports and annual publications.
• Transform Excel‑based data into clear visual storytelling and infographics.
• Create print‑ready artwork and conduct pre‑flight checks to ensure production quality.
• Collaborate with editorial and research teams to meet multiple deadlines.
• Maintain consistency across digital and print assets.

Required profile

• Advanced proficiency with Adobe InDesign and extensive experience in long‑document workflows.
• Proven background in long‑form typesetting within publishing or editorial environments.
• Experience handling data‑heavy reports and annual publications.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
• Experience in think‑tank, policy, research, government or non‑profit sectors is a plus.
