Freelance Innovation Portfolio Manager (3 months contract)

About the role

Acumetis, a global commercialisation partner for life sciences, is looking for a freelance Innovation Portfolio Manager on a 3-month contract. The role documents current processes and templates, defines the steps and resources needed to train AI, and turns business needs into requirements for AI and automation builds. It works within the Acumetis Innovation Operating Model, with the office location in Faringdon and open to fully remote, hybrid or office-based arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Document current processes, workflows, handoffs, decision points and supporting templates across priority areas.
• Work with service-line and operational subject matter experts to understand variations in current ways of working and capture the resources needed for consistent execution.
• Define future-state process steps, templates and resource libraries that support standardisation and AI enablement.
• Gather and structure business requirements for AI, automation and digital workflow builds, and turn them into clear inputs for solution design, build and testing.
• Identify the documentation, examples, decision rules and training resources needed to support AI-enabled outputs.
• Collaborate with delivery, technology and innovation teams so requirements are detailed enough for implementation.
• Capture improvements to processes, templates and requirements after implementation for future builds.

Required profile

• 6-8 years of relevant experience in business analysis, process improvement, transformation, consulting, operations or digital enablement, including documenting workflows and working with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience documenting workflows, process variations, templates, tools and operating resources.
• Ability to define future-state process steps and translate business needs into practical requirements.
• Strong written communication skills and the ability to create clear process documentation and requirements materials.
• Desirable: consulting, professional services, life sciences or healthcare experience, and product management, transformation or innovation experience.
