Freight Operations Manager – Transport Coordination

About the role

The Freight Operations Manager will join Reed’s growing logistics team in Lympne, overseeing inbound and outbound trailer movements between the UK and Europe. Reporting to the Operations team, you will ensure efficient shipment planning, maximise trailer utilisation and maintain smooth warehouse‑transport flows.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate inbound shipments from Europe and organise onward distribution to UK destinations such as Manchester and Birmingham.
• Consolidate loads, maximise trailer utilisation and manage weight distribution across approximately 15 trailers.
• Build and schedule outbound trailer movements within the UK and back to Europe.
• Coordinate off‑loading activities with warehouse staff and monitor shipment progress.
• Liaise with warehouse, transport and operational teams to resolve issues and maintain accurate planning records.

Required profile

• Proactive logistics professional with experience in transport planning, distribution or operations.
• Strong organisational ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail, especially around load planning and weight distribution.

Required skills

• Knowledge of UK and European logistics operations.
• Understanding of trailer planning and load optimisation.
