French Language Assistant

About the role

This position is for a French Language Assistant working in a large secondary school in Hackney, North East London. The role is part‑time (18 hours per week) and runs during term time from September 2026. It offers a valuable opportunity for anyone passionate about French and interested in gaining classroom experience.

Key responsibilities

• Work with small groups of Key Stage 3 and 4 students to improve spoken and written French.
• Provide targeted support to GCSE students preparing for examinations.
• Build confidence in pronunciation, conversation and overall speaking ability.
• Assist teachers within the Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) department.
• Help students make academic progress and develop a love for languages.

Required profile

• Strong French language skills.
• Experience or clear interest in working with secondary‑aged students.
• Confidence, organisation and ability to build positive relationships with young people.
• Genuine passion for education and supporting student achievement.
