French Language Assistant (Part‑time, Term‑time)

About the role

The French Language Assistant will support boys at Harrow School in preparing for their public speaking examinations. Working on a part‑time, term‑time basis, the role covers Year 11 (Fifth Form) and Years 12‑13 (Lower and Upper Sixth) and involves both scheduled French lessons and extra‑curricular sessions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver speaking practice sessions for Year 11 pupils during their regular French lessons.
• Organise and run oral‑presentation workshops for Sixth Form students in free periods, focusing on newspaper articles and authentic material.
• Help students develop confidence and fluency on GCSE and A‑Level topics.
• Provide feedback and guidance to improve pronunciation, structure and content of oral work.

Required profile

• Proven experience teaching French to young learners, either one‑to‑one or in small groups.
• Successful track record of preparing pupils for oral examinations.
• Ability to build rapport with students and create an enjoyable learning environment.
