French Language Assistant – Secondary School (Part‑time)

About the role
This part‑time position supports a large secondary school in Hackney, delivering targeted French language assistance to Key Stage 3 and 4 students. The role runs on a term‑time basis, starting September 2026, and offers valuable classroom experience for those interested in a teaching career.
Key responsibilities
- Work with small groups to develop spoken and written French proficiency.
- Provide focused support to GCSE students preparing for examinations.
- Boost confidence in pronunciation, conversation, and overall language use.
- Assist the MFL department teachers with lesson preparation and delivery.
- Help students achieve academic progress and foster a love of languages.
Required profile
- Strong command of French, both oral and written.
- Interest in or experience with secondary‑aged learners.
- Organised, confident and able to build positive relationships with young people.
- Passion for education and supporting student achievement.
Required skills
- Fluent French language ability.
