Front-end Engineer

About the role

Comand AI's mission is to build next‑generation C2 software with real users in real deployments. You will join the product development team as a front‑end specialist, working closely with product design and engineering. You take operational problems, explore them, propose solutions, and iterate to deliver clear, fast, and dependable user experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Own front‑end delivery on Prevail, our operational planning platform, from interaction design through production.
• Build interfaces for real geospatial problems, including interactive maps, multiple data layers, large datasets, and time‑sensitive workflows.
• Collaborate early with product and design to turn operational needs into clear flows and production‑ready experiences.
• Raise front‑end quality by reviewing and improving work from engineers across specialities, including AI‑assisted code.
• Make trade‑offs between speed and durability, especially under short‑deadline, high‑stakes demos or deployments.
• Create reusable patterns to keep the product coherent as the team and surface area grow.

Required profile

• Strong production experience with React and TypeScript, with front‑end engineering as a core craft.
• Track record of owning complex interfaces from problem definition through release and iteration.
• Strong product and design judgement, spotting weak hierarchy, inconsistent interactions, and confusing states early.
• Pragmatic, low‑ego attitude, able to improve rough work without endless debate.
• Comfort with ambiguity and changing priorities while maintaining high quality.
• EU or UK citizenship (contractual requirement tied to defence contracts).
