Frontend Software Engineer – Grocery & Retail

About the role

Join the Grocery & Retail domain at Just Eat Takeaway.com as a Frontend Software Engineer. You will create customer‑facing experiences that serve tens of millions of users daily, using modern web technologies such as React, TypeScript and Next.js.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, designers and engineers to turn ideas into functional features.
• Participate in technical discussions, shaping feature direction and team standards.
• Prototype new features and technologies, converting ambiguous concepts into working software.
• Follow JET‑wide architecture best practices and contribute improvements.
• Build relationships across the organisation and support continuous personal development.

Required profile

• Strong frontend development experience, preferably with React or Vue.
• Solid understanding of JavaScript (ES6+) and modern tooling such as Next.js, Redux Saga, Reselect and TypeScript.
• Hands‑on experience with unit and end‑to‑end testing frameworks (Jest, Playwright, Cypress, React Testing Library).
• Working knowledge of Node.js and Express for server‑side rendering.
• Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards, CSS preprocessors/frameworks and responsive UI development.
• Experience with Webpack 5 and Module Federation is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure or GCP) is desirable.
