About the role
You will join the Fluid Mechanical department within Airbus' Fuel & Inerting Systems team, contributing to the design, specification and testing of fuel flow architecture across commercial aircraft. The placement runs for 12.5 months, offering exposure to both traditional kerosene‑based systems and emerging Sustainable Aviation Fuel technologies.
Key responsibilities
- Design system architecture, specify pipework and fluid‑mechanical equipment such as valves and pumps.
- Develop and run simulations of fuel flow, pressure and state to validate designs from component level to full aircraft testing.
- Support R&T projects and flight‑test campaigns, collaborating with cross‑functional engineering teams.
Required profile
- Undergraduate student in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical, Systems or Software Engineering (must remain an undergraduate for the full placement).
- Strong interest in aviation, sustainability and new fuel technologies, with ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly.
Required skills
- Computer‑based engineering and system modelling.
- Fluid‑mechanics simulation and analysis.
