About the role
This temporary full‑time position is for a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) at a supportive, inclusive school in the Tewkesbury area. The role starts in September 2026 and offers the chance to shape high‑quality SEND provision while working closely with staff, pupils, families and external agencies.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the strategic development of SEND provision and ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
- Identify, assess and monitor progress of pupils with SEND.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to design and implement effective intervention strategies.
- Liaise with parents, carers, external agencies and professionals to support student progress.
- Manage and support teaching assistants and SEN support staff.
- Maintain high standards of teaching and learning for pupils with additional needs.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to work towards it).
- Proven experience working with pupils with SEND.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational abilities.
- Commitment to inclusive education and improving student outcomes.
Required skills
- Knowledge of current SEND legislation and best practices.
