Functional Skills Maths & English Tutor

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Functional Skills Maths and English Tutor to deliver small‑group tuition to teenagers and young adults in central London. The role is part‑time and flexible, ideal for teachers or experienced tutors who want to make a real difference alongside their current commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging small‑group Functional Skills Maths and English lessons.
• Adapt teaching style and resources to meet individual needs and SEN requirements.
• Plan and deliver personalised lessons that address learning gaps.
• Track student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Create a calm, encouraging environment that builds confidence.
• Support students in working towards their educational goals.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience in Functional Skills Maths and English.
• Experience supporting students with SEN and ability to adapt learning.
• Excellent communication skills and a patient, encouraging approach.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
• Desirable: QTS and/or PGCE, experience with EHCPs, background in functional‑skills or intervention work.
