Functional Skills Tutor - Maths & English

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Functional Skills Tutor to deliver Maths and English lessons to a small group of learners with additional needs in central Manchester. The role involves a 4‑hour teaching block each Monday throughout the academic year.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Functional Skills Maths and English lessons for a group of approximately 12 learners.
• Teach a 4‑hour block each Monday (2 hours Maths, 2 hours English).
• Assess learner progress through marking and provide constructive feedback.
• Create an inclusive, positive learning environment that supports individual needs.
• Adapt teaching strategies to engage students with SEND and SEMH.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher (QTS) or experienced unqualified teacher/tutor.
• Proven tutoring or teaching experience.
• Experience planning lessons and marking learner work.
• Ideally experience supporting learners with SEND and/or SEMH.
• Patient, adaptable and passionate about helping learners succeed.
