Functional Skills Tutor – Part‑time 1:1 Tuition

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking enthusiastic Functional Skills Tutors to deliver high‑quality one‑to‑one tuition to learners in St Helens. The role focuses on supporting adults working towards Functional Skills English and Maths qualifications, helping them improve literacy, numeracy and confidence for everyday life and employment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver personalised 1:1 lessons in Functional Skills English and/or Maths.
• Assess learners’ progress and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
• Provide constructive feedback and motivate learners to achieve their qualification goals.
• Maintain accurate records of sessions and learner outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills English and/or Maths.
• A recognised teaching qualification or equivalent tutoring experience.
• Strong communication skills and a learner‑focused approach.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to hold an enhanced DBS (or already hold one).

Required skills

• Experience delivering Functional Skills English and/or Maths curriculum.
