Funeral Arranger – Part‑time (18.75 hrs/week)

About the role

Join Co‑op Funeralcare as a part‑time Funeral Arranger, working 18.75 hours per week (Monday‑Friday 9am‑1pm) in Loughton. You will support families during difficult moments while receiving full training and a competitive hourly rate.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, transport and provide personal care for the deceased, ensuring dignity and compliance with health and safety standards.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and the community, supporting families in person and over the phone.
• Maintain the funeral home’s cleanliness, safety and welcoming environment, reporting any maintenance issues.
• Use digital systems (computers, tablets, smartphones) to manage client documentation, funeral arrangements and invoicing.
• Handle regulated work such as selling and informing clients about funeral plans, referring to Funeral Plan Arrangers when necessary.
• Assist with manual handling of coffins and preparation of the deceased for viewings (hair, make‑up, positioning).

Required profile

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Comfort with basic numerical tasks such as cash handling, discounts and invoicing.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow regulatory policies.
• High empathy, discretion and care for families during difficult moments.
• Physical capability to move coffins safely, with training provided.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers.
• Experience using tablets and smartphones.
• Ability to operate printers and other office equipment.
