Funeral Attendant – Full‑time (Watford)

About the role

Join the Co‑op funeral service crew in Watford, providing dignified care for families during their most difficult moments. You will work varied shifts, supporting the preparation, transportation and presentation of the deceased with professionalism and respect.

Key responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from a range of locations and scenarios in a professional and empathetic manner.
• Bear coffins on the day of the funeral and drive funeral vehicles.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and vehicles.
• Prepare coffins and engrave name plates.
• Prepare the deceased for viewings and the funeral ceremony.
• Enter and update client information in management applications daily.
• Safely lift, carry and move coffins using handling aids and following health‑and‑safety guidance.

Required profile

• Full manual UK driving licence.
• Physical ability to perform manual lifting and moving tasks safely.
• Calm, compassionate response in emotional situations.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to regulatory policies.

Required skills

• Ability to safely lift and move coffins using handling aids.
• Basic IT proficiency with computers, tablets, smartphones, printers and scanners.
