About the role

Join the Co‑op funeral service crew in York, providing compassionate support to families during difficult times. This part‑time position involves handling the deceased with dignity, operating funeral vehicles, and ensuring a respectful service environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from various locations in a professional, empathetic manner.
• Transport and bear coffins, and drive funeral vehicles safely.
• Prepare coffins, engrave name plates, and ready the deceased for viewings and funerals.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
• Accurately record client information in management applications.
• Use handling aids and follow health‑and‑safety guidelines when lifting and moving coffins.

Required profile

• Full UK manual driving licence.
• Physical ability to perform manual lifting and handling tasks safely.
• Calm, compassionate response to emotional situations with strong customer‑service orientation.
• Attention to detail and adherence to regulatory policies.

Required skills

• Basic computer operation (e.g., using tablets, printers, and data entry systems).
