Funeral Service Crew – Coroner Service (Full‑time)

About the role

Join the Co‑op Coroner Service team as a Funeral Service Crew member. You will be responsible for the respectful transfer of deceased individuals to mortuary or post‑mortem facilities while supporting the coroner’s investigation process.

Key responsibilities

• Remove and transfer the deceased safely to the designated mortuary or post‑mortem facility on behalf of the Coroner.
• Support the coroner’s investigation by ensuring prompt transfer for examination or identification.
• Provide a compassionate service to bereaved families and maintain professional conduct.
• Collaborate with Coroner Officers, police, healthcare professionals, funeral directors and mortuary staff.
• Maintain accurate records of transfers, collections and admissions.
• Keep equipment, vehicles and facilities clean and ready for use.
• Prepare coffins and engrave name plates, and assist in the care and preparation of the deceased.
• Ensure compliance with legal, health‑and‑safety and infection‑control procedures.

Required profile

• Full UK manual driving licence.
• Sensitive approach to customer service with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to remain calm and compassionate in emotionally charged situations.
• Willingness to handle direct physical contact with the deceased as required by the role.
