Funeral Service Crew – Part‑time (Hartlepool)

About the role

Join the Co‑op funeral service crew in Hartlepool and help families say a respectful goodbye to their loved ones. This part‑time position offers a supportive environment with full training, even if you have no prior funeral industry experience.

Key responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from various locations with professionalism and empathy.
• Transport and bear coffins on the day of the funeral, including driving funeral vehicles.
• Prepare coffins, engrave name plates, and ready the deceased for viewings and services.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
• Enter and update client information in management applications daily.
• Safely lift, carry and move coffins using appropriate handling aids and health‑safety procedures.

Required profile

• Full UK manual driving licence.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as manual lifting and moving coffins.
• Calm and compassionate response in emotional situations.
• Strong attention to detail and reliable record‑keeping.

Required skills

• Computer literacy – confident use of computers, tablets, smartphones, printers and scanners.
