Garden Operative Team Leader

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Garden Operative Team Leader to manage our grounds maintenance crew in the London Borough of Hounslow. Based at the Brentford depot, you will oversee daily park and open‑space work, ensuring high standards of safety and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of garden operatives across multiple sites.
• Carry out and monitor daily grounds maintenance tasks such as grass cutting, edging, strimming and hedge trimming.
• Operate and maintain equipment including strimmers, lawn mowers, hedge cutters and other machinery.
• Load, unload and transport tools and materials using a 3.5‑tonne manual van.
• Perform daily vehicle and machinery safety checks.
• Maintain clean, safe public spaces by litter picking, leaf clearance and seasonal work.
• Provide training, support and guidance to team members.
• Adhere to all health and safety procedures and company standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in grounds maintenance, gardening or landscaping.
• Full UK manual driving licence with entitlement to drive a 3.5‑tonne van.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and attend the Brentford depot each morning.
• Reliability, punctuality and a strong commitment to safety.

Required skills

• Operation of strimmers, lawn mowers and hedge cutters.
• Driving and handling a 3.5‑tonne manual van.
• Use of various grounds‑maintenance machinery.
• Conducting vehicle and equipment safety checks.
