Gardener – Chiswick House & Gardens

About the role
Groundwork London is seeking a dedicated Gardener to join the team at Chiswick House & Gardens in West London. You will work alongside experienced staff and trainees to maintain and enhance a historic 65‑acre landscape that welcomes up to one million visitors each year.
Key responsibilities
- Mow meadows, leisure lawns and ornamental lawns.
- Maintain hedgerows, mulch beds and clear leaf litter.
- Operate and maintain garden machinery such as tractors, mowers and spraying equipment.
- Support the Team Leader in delivering training and guidance to horticulture trainees.
- Follow health and safety procedures and respond to reactive maintenance issues.
Required profile
- Relevant horticulture or landscaping qualification (BTEC, NVQ or RHS Level 2 minimum; Level 3+ desirable).
- Proven experience as a gardener with a strong track record of successful site upkeep.
- Ability to work to planned schedules, prioritize tasks and provide practical solutions.
- Commitment to supporting trainee development and promoting a safe working environment.

What we offer
- Permanent contract (37.5 hours per week) with a competitive salary of £29,000‑£30,000 per year.
