Gardener – Grounds Maintenance (Southwark)

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Gardener to maintain communal green spaces in Southwark. This temporary contract position offers a steady 36‑hour week, Monday to Friday, at a competitive hourly rate.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a range of grounds‑maintenance tasks such as weeding, dead‑heading, hoeing, planting, pruning, cutting, and watering.
• Cut and maintain lawns and grass areas to various finishes, from fine lawns to meadow‑type surfaces.
• Operate a variety of machinery including pedestrian‑operated mowers, tractors, ride‑on mowers, strimmers and brush cutters.
• Apply fertilisers and pesticides in line with health, safety and environmental guidelines.
• Use tools and equipment according to manufacturer instructions and company policies.

Required profile

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of appearance.
• Good physical fitness for manual handling and operating equipment.
• Willingness to follow safe recruitment and health‑and‑safety practices.
