Gas Breakdown Engineer

About the role

Liberty Group is seeking a Gas Breakdown Engineer to service domestic properties in the Little Stanney and Ellesmere Port area. You will be the first point of contact for customers experiencing gas heating failures, delivering safe and efficient repairs.

Key responsibilities

• Attend and diagnose breakdowns of domestic gas heating systems.
• Carry out fault‑finding, repairs and first‑time fixes where possible.
• Work to health & safety, gas safety regulations and company operational procedures.
• Participate in an out‑of‑hours call‑out rota.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain high satisfaction levels.
• Record work details using a PDA/mobile device and report accidents or hazards.
• Identify additional remedial work required for safe operation.

Required profile

• ACS qualifications: CCN1, HTR1, CKR1, CENWAT.
• Proven experience diagnosing and repairing domestic gas heating systems.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Positive attitude, flexibility and strong customer‑service skills.
• Good understanding of gas legislation and health & safety standards.
• Ability to manage time and workload independently.
• NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) desirable; LPG or Unvented qualifications advantageous.

Required skills

• Gas heating system diagnosis and fault‑finding.
• Repair of domestic gas boilers and heating equipment.
• Use of PDA/mobile reporting tools.
• Knowledge of ACS qualifications (CCN1, HTR1, CKR1, CENWAT).
• Understanding of gas safety regulations and health & safety practices.
