Gas Engineer – £31/hr – Flexible Self‑Employed Role

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Gas Engineer to join our family‑run business on a self‑employed basis, with the possibility of moving into a permanent position. You will work across the Oxfordshire area, delivering high‑quality installation, servicing and repair solutions for domestic and commercial properties.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out reactive repairs and fault finding on domestic boilers, heating systems and appliances.
• Complete annual servicing, safety checks and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) works.
• Install, replace and upgrade boilers, heating systems and associated components.
• Prepare void properties for new tenants by completing safety checks, repairs and remedial works.
• Diagnose faults and provide effective solutions to achieve first‑time fixes.
• Maintain accurate job records, certifications and reports using tablet systems.

Required profile

• Gas Safe registered – CCN1, CENWAT and CKR1.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in domestic gas engineering.
• Qualified to work on unvented hot water systems (G3).
• Comfortable working in occupied properties and flexible to travel across Carterton, Abingdon and Faringdon.
• Own van and tools.

Required skills

• Gas Safe registration (CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1).
• Unvented hot water (G3) competence.
• Boiler installation, servicing and fault‑finding.
• Use of tablet reporting systems for job documentation.
