About the role
Prospero Teaching is seeking enthusiastic GCSE English and Maths tutors to provide one‑to‑one tuition for secondary‑aged students in Halton. The role supports pupils in preparing for their GCSE examinations, closing learning gaps and building confidence through personalised lessons. Flexible part‑time hours (5‑15 per week) start in September 2026 and continue on an ongoing basis.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality 1:1 tuition in English and/or Maths to GCSE students.
- Assess each learner’s strengths and weaknesses and design tailored lesson plans.
- Provide clear explanations, practice exercises and exam techniques aligned with the GCSE curriculum.
- Track progress, give constructive feedback and adjust teaching strategies as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance and any safeguarding concerns.
Required profile
- Proven experience teaching GCSE English and/or Maths.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- Strong knowledge of the current GCSE curriculum and assessment methods.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate learners.
- Enhanced DBS clearance and the right to work in the UK.
