GCSE Science Tutor (Part‑time Contractor)

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic GCSE Science Tutors to deliver personalised 1:1 tuition for learners across the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) area. Working on behalf of local authorities, you will support vulnerable students who need alternative educational provision and help them rebuild confidence and achieve GCSE success.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, tailored GCSE Science lessons for individual learners.
• Assess each student’s progress and adapt teaching strategies to meet their specific needs.
• Collaborate with local authority staff to ensure compliance with safeguarding and educational standards.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and outcomes.
• Travel within the BCP area to conduct sessions, using a personal vehicle where possible.

Required profile

• Minimum six months experience in an educational setting (tutoring, teaching, mentoring, learning support, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of the GCSE Science curriculum.
• Ability to engage and motivate learners with diverse additional needs (e.g., ASD, SEMH, ADHD, anxiety).
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
